Both we and the rescue service concluded that C3C:s block prevented the fire.
It had been a hot and dry summer in Eskilstuna when employees at the recycling facility received signals that something had caught fire. The machine operators tried to put out the fire, but in vain. The fire spread quickly and the situation escalated. – It only took 20 minutes before the recycling facility was completely engulfed in flames. It was complete chaos. 30,000 tons of various materials were in flames, says the person in charge at the facility. After the fire, ESEM built up C3C's protection around the facility. C3C's block remained standing when everything else burned down. The rescue services, which quickly arrived on the scene, focused on preventing the fire from spreading, mainly to the nearby forest, which was also extremely dry in the summer heat. And the rescue service personnel on site also noted that C3C's block system stopped the fire from spreading. – What we could all quickly see was that the L-supports we had around most of the recycling center could not handle the heat and fire, while C3C's blocks acted as a barrier. After the fire, the C3C blocks remained standing while the L-supports burned down, says the person in charge. Equipped for the future Today, there are high walls of blocks from C3C in place, both at Lilla Nyby and at ESEM's other facility in Strängnäs. The recycling facility has had small fires even after the big fire, and in several cases, C3C blocks have prevented the spread. – I know that today we have a much greater chance of handling even a major fire. We have a better and safer solution, says manager
