A newly developed product with multi protection
Etna is a technically advanced and flexible workstation that Taiga designed with input from Landsbjörg, who has been our customer for 15 years. The jacket and trousers are sewn in the new material GORE-TEX Crosstech® Pyrad® Stretch Fabric, which is durable and has protection against rain, wind, liquid-borne infection and chemicals, as well as being flameproof and antistatic. With all these properties, it can also be suitable in shipping, civil defense and rescue services where extreme weather and missions with many risks are combined. The color of the final product will be customized according to the customer.
- The light, stretchy fabric has good breathability and we have included more details that the customer said they needed: ventilation openings, smart pockets, knee pads and a hood with room for a helmet. Prototypes are now being tested by users within the rescue organization in Iceland, who face everything from sea rescue, avalanches and volcanic eruptions during their calls. After the trial period, evaluations and possible adjustments are made before sharp production, says Camilla Johansson, product development manager at Taiga.
Landsbjörg, also called ICE-SAR, is an Icelandic voluntary organization that is responsible for a large part of the country's search and rescue efforts with a high degree of preparedness and the ability to act quickly. They have hundreds of rescue teams that are constantly trained to deal with emergencies both on land and at sea.
